Making Cool Shit
Cool Shit is the Internet in real life. The Lissabon-based fashion and art studio’s large inflatable sculptures have been exhibited in New York, Bondi Beach, London and Paris, and their works have been featured in Vice, The Guardian and the Paper Magazine.
In 2013, the studio began a Kickstarter campaign to create a giant, inflatable Lionel Richie’s head. The campaign included making full print Lionel Richie t-shirts, which the internet went crazy for, and the manufacturing of the tees continued until Lionel Richie’s lawyers asked the studio to stop. It was too late to stop the movement, and since then the studio has actively worked to create art that is public, polarizing and pop.
The goal of the studio has always been to make big, playful things of cultural impact and use design thinking in a way that truly engages people. At Vuoden Huiput Festival, artist and founder of the studio Danger Dave will tell us all about how to make cool shit.
Vuoden Huiput Festival is organised on Thursday March 7th 2019 9 am – 8 pm at Clarion Hotel Jätkäsaari, Tyynenmerenkatu 2, Helsinki.
Festival schedule and full programme will be released during February 2019.
